Basically, as of about a week ago pressing Fn+Home/End on Windows 7 changes brightness normally, but does not display an on-screen notification (like you get with the volume buttons/thinklight toggle). I reinstalled the OSD drivers Lenovo Interface drivers and even updated to the newer OSD drivers released a few days ago. Still won't work.

    Any ideas?

I've had this happen on my R61 ever since installing Windows7. Rebooting will return the functionality. I let system update install new drivers but that didn't do the trick... I went directly to Lenovo's website and installed the HotKey and Display drivers myself and it's been Ok for a couple of days and 3-4 hibernations. So my fingers are still crossed...

Make sure that you have Lenovo's graphic driver installed and not the one from Windows 7 or Intel.

I had the same problem. I will say I think the latest driver from Intel is better than Lenovo's version so I decided to forgo the OSD for brightness in favor of better color saturation (IMHO).
