    Hey guys,

I was that close to place an order for a T400, but after reading the discussions on this forum i have the following concerns that stop me from pulling my CC out of my pocket:

--- Wimax would be added to T400 later this year?
    --- ATI's crossfire technology integrated into T400?
--- More discounts during Xmas season?

If i order now, i won't get my t400 until probably later Sep or even early Oct. so should i just be a bit more patient for a better deal? or the concerns mentioned above just don't worth the wait?

    Thanks guys

    NWO

I’ll chime in, but much of this is on the board already…
    Per Lenovo, yes.
    No.
    Possibly.
It’s up to you. The price of technology always goes down as newer technology is made available.

The problem here is the risk of ordering and waiting 3/4 weeks and then the waiting time goes down to 1 week and so does the price of the T400. If I have to wait 1 month before getting it I prefer to wait until the waiting time is more normal.

Agreed. However, such is usually the case when purchasing a new made-to-order notebook.

The SL serie have a waiting time of 1-2 weeks. As soon as the T serie is the same i'm putting an order.

I myself is waiting for their linux version of T400, also of course for better deal! Since the delivery time is long now, I think wait until it's more mature then I'll order, maybe..

If WiMax is a big selling point, but you want a notebook now, you can order a T400 with the Intel 5300 wifi card and you should be able to upgrade to WiMax when the card is available.

If you decide to wait, you better commit to it now or else you'll see better laptops by that time and better deals but not the configuration you want and you'll just keep waiting. Commit to the Lenovo now and don't back out of it. Anyway, as long as Lenovo plans to get the Intel 5350 and 5150 cards out soon, the T400 will have a good chance of getting it, but WiMAX technology isn't even widespread yet and will add to the cost, but it's up to you.

My advice is to just get it now if you have a good deal on it. You just have to ask yourself are you getting it now because it's new? Or are you getting it because it's better than something else that you wanted before? It's only worth the wait if the former is your current situation.

Now is it worth the extra money to get the 9cell over the 6 cell battery??

I think so, but it's really up to the user. It's about an hour of battery life per cell.

My rule of thumb: If the battery is already sticking out, why not just get the 9-cell? ;)

Of course that is without weight in mind.

I would wait for Wimax and Intel Anti Theft Technology for 4th Quarter 2008. These are the only things available that aren't on the notebook right now and will be added.

As far as other options, it is possible that the CPU options can change as well with better CPU choices. Not sure how Lenovo works as far as cpu's. I know many vendors offer multiple cpu's throughout the product lifecycle even with the same series/chipset.

Other than this, there is nothing else that will be different till the successor to Montevina which will be Capella and will arrive for 3rd Quarter 2009.
