My friend just got a T400 and tried out the switchable graphics. When he uses the green battery icon (facing right) by right clicking and then selecting "energy saving" under switchable graphics, his battery life actually decreases from 5 hours to 3 hours. Re-enabling the "high performance" setting under the same menu causes the battery life to go back up to 5 hours.
The bios settings were fine.
Suggestions?

perhaps an update in windows.....
once you switch graphics......reboot the pc and see what happens...does the timer change or not..... there is no denying it, once you go from a discrete GPU to an integrated, technically, you should be saving power -
where in ISB are you......... which med school?

I would try reinstallng the graphics driver and reinstalling the power management driver and the power manager utility.
