    T400: Weird key icon on my task bar

    I have an odd little icon on my taskbar tray that won't go away. It's not showing up on my "end task" list and when I right click, it gives me the option to close but nothing happens when I try to close it. There's no option to check its properties. Anyone recognize this or have any idea what it is?

    Hello,

    Firstly, I'd perform an up to date virus and spyware/adware scan.

    It should be listed in the processes list of the task manager. If you post a list of all the processes currently running on your computer, someone may able to identify it.

    The free utility Process Explorer v11.33 is an advanced version of the task manager, which might be more useful to use. It might even show the key icon next to the process that is the culprit. Also, you should be able to output a list of all the running processes to a text file for posting here.

    Looks like th Intel AMT privacy icon. Look into the AMT software or msconfig should be able to disable it if you want to.

    Correct. I had that Intel AMT icon on my T400 as well.
