After some searching around, I've seen conflicting reports on the max RAM capacity in the T400.
Is it 8GB or not?
Does it have two slots? Do most laptops have two RAM slots? Is there such a thing as an 8GB stick?!

2 slots with 4gb sticks in each.
Just curious, what will you do with all that memory? -
Well, when I'm developing (programming) under XP, with Visual Studio, a local instance of SQL Server, and debugging, with FF and Outlook open, I regularly clock over 3GB of memory usage, hence the need for 4GB.
If I also run a VMWare image, that'd bump it up another GB or two.
I don't really need 8GB -- at least I haven't yet; I was just curious if the T400 had two slots or not, and if there really is a 8GB stick. -
The other nice thing is that with vista, that 8GB will be put to good use if you regularly open many different, memory hungry apps as they will be pre-cached.

You will have to use Vista x64, of course. 64 bit is the only way to put all of that to work. Well, XP x64 would work per say, but at this point I hardly think it is worth using (as much as I loved using it in the past...)

No 8GB DD3 modules exist yet, but even if they did there’s no guarantee the T400 will see 16GB of RAM.
T400: upgradable to 8GB of RAM? How many slots?
