Looks like Phoenix finally woke up. They finally have a BIOS that hands control of the hardware over to the OS in less than a second. The video shows a T400s, with SSD, booting Windows 7 in under 10 seconds.
Heres to hoping Lenovo makes this BIOS available on all current models! Then again, I mostly just put my system to sleep and rarely need to boot it!

That's actually very exciting!
When I started using Win7 on my desktop about 5 months ago the quick boot-up was very noticeable and welcomed. -
I would definitely like that. It takes my x200 Tablet with Win7 and SSD less time to cold boot Windows than it does to clear the BIOS screens.
-
Would be really nice to see laptops booting in under 10 seconds..
-
You can with linux for sure.
-
You can boot linux in 10 s. Is that into KDE or Gnome or to the logon screen? Which version?
-
I hope Lenovo will realse updated BIOS for us

It does take a lot off time to load up bios to the vista loading screen... I believe its software thing.
-
That is certainly impressive. I wonder though, if you need to access the bios, how would one go about that?
-
omg my pants are now sticky.
That's incredible. Hopefully those BIOS updates will come out soon -
Nice. -

by the way, the title is wrong. this is UEFI, not BIOS. It's the next generation of BIOS.

I have a few questions about UEFI actually. Will it support Bluetooth devices? (so I can use my BT keyboard and mouse if I ever need to change settings or operating systems in UEFI? Also, can it support waking the computer with a Bluetooth keyboard and mouse? With a USB keyboard I can wake the computer just by pressing a button on the keyboard, but I can't do that with a Bluetooth one. Right now Apple's Bluetooth keyboard can do that, and Intel Macs are EFI based, so I was wondering if that was the case with UEFI based PCs.

I see no reason why they couldn't and I hope they go in that direction ! -
7 secs? wow damn...
but for me, it's a nice to have, not necessary. I don't mind longer boot up times, but have to be less the 2 min. Gives me time to do other stuff like sit down, get comfy, and look out the window and perhaps think deep thoughts LOL. -
UEFI is like another OS (though I thought UEFI was dead and something lese replaced it). If it's going to be Linux based, we should be able get instant on OSes (like Latitude ON in theory...)
T400s Boots Windows 7 in Less Than 10 Seconds (with new BIOS)!
