So I know and can live with that whine/buzz that comes from the CPU or w/e but there is this damn clicking noise kinda like when hard drive is parking its head type that and it happens while the laptop is not doing anything! has anyone figured anything out regarding this? any settings I can change please help!

Edit1: I know the clicking noise is different from the CPU buzz because ! .. If you go to power manager change settings to HIGHEST CPU state.. the buzz is constant ... If you change it to Low or Lowest ; its gone ! Wala ! if anyone was having this problem... thats how you fix it ... Now just about this hard drive noise...

Unfortunately, some hard drives are just louder than others, and there's not too much you can do about it. If you really can't stand the noise, an SSD may be worth looking at - besides, it would give a large performance boost as well.

SSD => solid state drive => NO moving parts, no reading head, no spin => no noise.

Doesn't make sense to me :S

if the noise is originating at the fan, then that means the fan is keeping changing the speed profile or the spindle is slipping. Download the latest version of the TPFancontrol from the web, and check whether that the noise only emanates when the fan changes speed. My T400s also make the click noise, but it is only very faint and occurs only due speed change of the fan.

If you are really worried about this problem then it is advisable that you should call Lenovo technical support.
