I am thinking about replacing my T400s hard drive with an Intel X18-m SSD, can anybody recommend a software / external 1.8" USB enclosure combo that will work well ?

I already own Acronis True Image home edition, can somebody recommend a 1.8" enclosure that will allow me to transfer the entire HD to the SSD ?

    thanks in advance.

When I replaced my HDD, I just bought an 2.5" enclosure for the disk. I believe there are also 1.8" enclosures. With it you also should get the USB/esata/firewire cable. Then replace the HDD with the SSD, put the HDD into the enclosure. You do a fresh install from rescue and recovery DVDs. Then you can use your old drive as an external drive.

Or you can even buy an Ultrabay hdd adapter and replace your DVD-rom. There should be adapters for 1.8" to 2.5". This way you don't mess up with externals.

I have no experience with those kind of cables. Maybe it will work, maybe not.
