T400s Resolution/Mute problem on Lid Close

I have my T400s connected to a external 24" LCD. If I have my computer setup to Extended (where my Thinkpad LCD is on and the external is on) and then I close the lid on my Thinkpad, then it will mute the sound. After when I reopen the lid it will set a clone display (same resolution on both external and thinkpad lcd) and un-mute the sound.

Is there a way to get his madness to stop? I set all my profiles on FN-F7 already and it did not fix this issue. My presenation director only has Notebook, External, and Extended as an option.

Power Manager -> Close Lid is set to Do Nothing.

Please help! Its driving me insane!
