maybe I'm the only person out there with this problem (though I saw a post by an old T61 user with something similar).

I love my t400s and my dock, but what I want to do when heading home is to sleep the machine (without undocking it), then undock it and stick it in my bag.

I find that when I do this, the machine does not actually go to sleep but leaves the processor on although the screen is blank. a couple of times it has stayed on the entire way home, and once it completely ran down the 6-cell + bay battery after several hours (icky smell, too).

un-docking and then sleeping works, but it seems weird I should have to do this. any ideas?

t400s with 4GB ram, 128G SSD, win7 upgraded from vista. nothing else of interest I think...

When you unplug a device (or undock, in your case) when a computer is sleeping, the computer will wake up. A simple workaround is just to undock first and then put it to sleep.

Alternatively, you can play around with the power management settings and see if you can get around this behavior.

oh, so it's a feature not a bug!
