    hi

i just got a new T400s from the MSFT store. it seems the hibernating/powered off battery drain is quite high? i set the max. charge to 80% and i leave my laptop hibernated for 24 hours unplugged, then 24 hours later plugged it back in and turned it on.

the charge after 24 hours is ~ 10% less. is this normal? i have Wake on Timer disabled in BIOS... seems kind of high for ~10% a day for parasitic drain while its off.

what are the typical parasitic drain rates for thinkpads?

    thanks

I've got T400s from the same store as well, in Feb. I went through updating bios and checking power options, but still battery drain was noticeable, say compared to other thinkpads I have owned (T30 or X61s).

My guess is that the battery drain may have something to do with the fingerprint reader on palmrest which is on with a small green light all the time (sleep, hibernation, or off...).

If I take off the battery and put it back in place, then the green light goes away and the battery drain doesn't seem to be that much. It is just what I feel, and I don't know how significant it is.

Well, it is a shame that such a wonderful machine suffers from UTI...

Yes, the tiny green light by the fingerprint reader (if you have activated the fingerprint reader, the light should be on when thinkpad is not on).

Yeah, I had to go through a few phone calls to get the warranty reset. But, first a few idiots on Lenovo service wouldn't update the warranty expiration date. Finally after hours of frustration and calling, the warranty on my machine is reset to expire in one year.

myung, i was looking at your previous posts, and you mentioned you returned the T400s; did you really return it? what about your BSOD problems?

i been 'stress' testing my new T400s, everything looks good.

    thanks
