Great deal on a T400s in the outlet...might pull the trigger. I had originally wanted to get my hands on a T410s, but with the Ram I want it's going to be in the 1600 range. That's a lot of moolah. Is the i5 going to be that much better than the Core 2 duo?

I don't know if you guys can help me or if its just a decision I have to make for myself. Is everything else basically the same? Is the screen basically the same?

If you're content with getting an outlet product, wait for a better deal on a T410s. There was a new one (or redistributed, as they call it) going for $1,034 a few days ago that I regret not pulling the trigger on when it was up. Similar specs to the $999 model, but obviously with the benefits of the i5 520m and GMA HD. And even if there is one that doesn't meet the memory or hard drive offerings of the $999 special (the hard drive being a bummer since it's the 120GB spinner versus the 250GB I saw on the T410s offering,) keep in mind that memory and hard drive are easily upgradeable; CPU is not.

The difference btw the all the i5s and C2D CPUs are very little to none for majority of users. For more specific help, please tell us the CPU models you're looking at and your particular usage.

    Intel® Core™2 Duo SP9600 (2.53GHz, 6MB L2, 1066MHz FSB)

    vs

    Intel® Core™ i5-520M Processor (2.40GHz, 3MB L3, 1066MHz FSB)

I'm not going to do any gaming or 3d programs or anything. It's mostly a work computer for web design and some fiddling in Photoshop. I also like to run several programs at once and multitask. However, I want to get something that will last, run Windows 7 pro 64 without a hitch, etc. Which would have better battery life? And new from the Outlet is still new right? Not an inferior product or anything I'm hoping.

in terms of overall performance the i5-520m is not whole lot faster than a P9600, there is probably a couple percent of overall difference when you run a benchmark.

So i mean the T400s in that regard is not going to be slower than a T410s with the i5-520m CPU.

Regarding outlet machines, they would have in bracket what condition it is under (i.e. refurb or new).

Thanks, that's the kind of info I'm looking for.
