I am a new T400s user and thinking of upgrading the SATA 5400 rpm drive to the 80GB Intel SSD offered by Dane-Elec (on Newegg).
Has anybody used this SSD with the T400s ? Please can you share your challenges/comments ?

    Many thanks.

I've only seen Dane-Elec sell flash drives at the Source, and I can't testify on the quality, but I would suggest paying a bit more for a higher end ssd, perhaps one made by Intel.

If you're buying an SSD for an OS drive, get an Intel G2. Any other SSD is a waste of money as an OS drive.

I was very tempted a few days ago to go with this SSD for my T500, but I decided to wait a little while for Intel G2 drives to go down in price.

These Dane-Elec drives are the same as Intel G1 80GB SSDs, which people have used with no problems in pretty much all the Thinkpads.

Guys, it is an Intel drive, probably just rebadged. It's possible they're building their own drives based on Intel controllers, but that seems unlikely. But it's definitely an Intel controller.

The most important thing to check is that the drive is 1.8" rather than the standard 2.5". I saw the Dane-Elec SSD on Newegg the other day (full kit with 1.8" µSATA to 2.5" SATA and USB enclosure) and I believe it to be an Intel x18M G1. This is a very good drive, but lacks a few of the features of the newer G2 drive (notably TRIM support). However, I've not seen any G2 drives in the 1.8" form factor as of yet.

    yeah good point, make sure it's a 1.8"!!! 2.5" just doesn't fit in T400s.

I have the exact setup and its great because I used the included 1.8 to 2.5 adaptor to turn my old 1.8 into a 2.5 for the ultrabay hd adapter. The drive is an Intel drive inside the adapter.

I think the package all together is an amazing value

Does the drive rattle around in the adapter at all, or is it well supported from all sides? Was there any issue fitting it into your ultrabay adapter? This is less than I'm seeing the 2.5" Intel drive right now, so I'm considering it for my X200s.
