Hi everyone, I just purchased a T400s. At work, I have it hooked up to a 19inch monitor(extended), and the output is very fuzzy. It's readable, but not sharp at all. For the last 2 years, I had my T61 hooked up to the same monitor and it's night and day difference. I tried changing every setting, install the monitor driver, change the refresh rates, etc. The only difference I can find between my old T61 is the video card. Nvidia nvs 140m vs. 4500MHD integrated for T400s. I can't believe this is the problem because I don't think it would take much to drive a 19inch monitor running 1280x1024.
I am running Windows XP. Any help would be much appreciated.
    Thanks

Is there any mode (eg., using external monitor only, etc.) in which the external monitor works perfectly with the T400s? Does the monitor OSD show the correct resolution & refresh rate?

Try it on a few different monitor. There is a slight chance that your T400s is defective. Integrated graphics is perfectly capable of displaying crisp images on external monitors, especially at the low 1280x1024 resolution.

I am using VGA output. The thing is, on my T61, the external monitor displays sharp and crisp text. On the T400s, the test is fuzzy and not sharp at all. Enough so that it bothers me.

Since you're using VGA, you can try adjusting your clock and phase settings:

    http://www.lagom.nl/lcd-test/clock_phase.php

And you can also use this to adjust your sharpness setting:

    http://www.lagom.nl/lcd-test/sharpness.php

(At the correct sharpness setting, when you stand about 20m away from your monitor, the square should appear uniformly gray)

And of course, as the others said, make sure you're running on the native resolution of your monitor...

also, exactly the reason why households are highly leveraged. was the purchase funded by credit?

whoa...does it matter if it's funded by credit? there is absolutely nothing wrong with credit cards, as long as the user doesn't spend more than what they can afford. the problem is there are too much people spending more than they can afford to, not "buying things funded by credit"

anyway it's none of your business why he bought a t400s to replace his t61, is it?
