Maybe someone has a solution for this:
In the reviews about the T400s I read that it's a very quiet notebook and that the cooler only sporadically runs for a short time.
I bought a student version of this laptop without operating system and did a clean install of Windows XP. And now I realize that the fan is running all the time.

Could someone be so kind to point me in the right direction to make my T400s quiet and stop the fan from running all the time?

    Thanks in advance!

You might want to try installing Lenovo’s Power Manger and related drivers (as well as other system level software if this is a clean install). Then again, XP is a legacy OS.

Make sure you install the System Interface Driver for your ThinkPad. in addition to the Power Manager. Also double-check and make sure there are no other device drivers missing.
