I have a T40p I bought few years back. Is it possible to upgrade it to Vista? I saw few Vista drivers at Lenovo website. But I was wondering if every necessary drivers are available for T40p. Also, though it's been three years, the LCD screen seems quite darker than the newly available T60. It looks as the brightness has lowered two notches down. I even tried reinstalling the driver but didn't help much. Is this normal degredation? Is it possible to replace the back lighting only? How difficult is it to replace the lightbulb?

You cranked the screen up all the way? The service manual will explain how to replace the backlight. Hopefully that will give you a clue as to whether it is worth it. I don't think Vista offers you much right now. You still have any warranty?

I think the old waranty is no longer valid since the Lenovo buyout. I cranked the brightness all the way up but still darker compared to the newer T60 and Dell users next to me at the cafe. I remember the screen of the T40p being really bright. Is this normal wear for three year old LCD screen?
Though Vista might not offer me much, has anyone installed on T40p? -
I had it on myT42. It did OK. You got a pic of the screen.

I think usability period of LCD should extent more than 3 years.
