I found a thinkpad t41 at www.buy.com and it has all the features I want and is in stock. One question, it says that it has an svga+ display res. Is this possible or could it be a typo and should read sxga+? On the IBM website, the lowest display res they list is xga. If it is indeed svga+, is it still worth it (I will use it for business, photos, gaming) and can I make the res 1024 x 768?
Thank you so much for your help.[?]
Here are the specs listed at buy.com
10356821 IBM ThinkPad T41 PM-1.7GHz 60GB 512MB XPP 14.1-SVGA+ DVD/CDRW BLU Built-in 802.11a/b/g and Hard Drive Shock-Protection!

That is most certainly a typo, the T40 has the option of XGA or SXGA and what they mean to say is SXGA which would most certainly match the res you are looking for. That's a very nice machine with a very nice configuration by the way!

Thank you very much! That was very helpful.

I myslef am thinking of buying a t41. I want something more reliable then my last dell with plenty of power, good battery life, and very sturdy construction. I have heard that the t41 has all these and more. I would like to know how you guys like your laptops.

Short and sweet... I love it. Not a single complaint.

Are the t41 graphic cards upgradebale?? the reason why i ask is because the only thing that keeps me from buying the t41 is its 32 meg raedon 9000 graphics card. i would like something with 64 or 128 because i game occassionly. If in the future i can upgrade the IBM i would order but im not sure if IBM will do that or not? does anyone know? also wahts the graphic performance of the raedon 9000 on games such as Unreal tournament 2003 and battlefield 1942
-
No, you cannot upgrade the graphics card. This is the general case with laptops unfortunately, graphics cards are just not as configurable in laptops as they are desktops. So, it's hard to recommend the IBM if you plan on doing a lot of gaming and need top knotch graphics performance. Outside of that issue, I'd recommend the T41 hands down.

Abaxter: I recd my T41 and am thrilled with it. Getting used to the tinier text though...
Would you, or anyone else, know if there is a dedicated thinkpad forum site? or the best site to discuss IBM thinkpads?
Thanks again for your advice. -
There is a Thinkpad Mailing List at

I have a T23 with the SXGA+ screen and I love it. I have XP Pro on it now and have 115 dpi for the fonts.
