After much research, I have decided to purchase a Thinkpad T41. Will this configuration -- http://www-132.ibm.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?productId=8665614&storeId=1&langId=-1&categoryId=2049168&dualCurrId=73&catalogId=-840 -- be good for all of my Internet needs? I will be traveling a lot on my job and want to be able to connect in hotel rooms, airports, etc. Or do I need anything else? I want to have something that will work well for awhile and not need to be upgraded anytime soon.
If someone could configure something for me that would be helpful. I feel rather lost and confused right now!
Thanks,
Jessica

I would up the memory to 512MB on that, it's at 256MB on the configuration you have. Also, the wireless card included is 802.11b which is great and the standard right now, but in 2 years time you might find that 802.11g is more of a standard so getting an internal wireless card that supports both 802.11 b/g would be optimal. Also, I might suggest you hunt around the web to sites like www.ecost.com to see what kind of deals you can get on the T41, buying direct from IBM.com is the most expensive way to go usually. The T41 is certainly a notebook that will take the miles of travelling and serve you well over the years of use, I have a T40 and just love it.

Thank you! Is this the internal wireless card that I should be getting: "IBM 11 a/b/g Wireless LAN Mini PCI card"?

Yes, either that one or a b/g card if they offer that. The a just ads one more protocol to the list you can work with, although it's not very popular.
