I just purchased a T41 that did not have a wireless adapter. I know there are 4 different choices I can choose from:

IBM 11a/b/g Wireless LAN Mini PCI Adapter
    http://www-132.ibm.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?catalogId=-840&langId=-1&partNumber=31P9701&storeId=1

IBM 11a/b/g Wireless LAN Mini PCI Adapter II
    http://www-132.ibm.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?catalogId=-840&storeId=1&productId=8770176&langId=-1&dualCurrId=73

    Intel PRO/Wireless 2200BG Mini-PCI Adapter from IBM
    http://www-132.ibm.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?productId=8708610&storeId=1&langId=-1&catalogId=-840

Cisco Aironet Wireless 802.11b Mini PCI by IBM
    http://www-132.ibm.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?catalogId=-840&langId=-1&partNumber=31P8301&storeId=1

The Intel and IBM Adapter, not the Adapter II, are compatible with the UltraConnect Antenna. Should I spend the extra bucks to get the adapter that goes with the UltraConnect or save some money and get the IBM Adapter II?

I believe spending extra $ for compatibility with the UltraConnect Antenna is well worth an extra $30 - $40 because you just never know when a day will arrive in which an extra 10 feet of range will really help out in picking up a signal from a distant access point, or just general every day use of having better reception in general. Think long term, and I think you have to go with something that promises better connectivity.

oooh good answer. I'll go with your advice and get the IBM 11a/b/g Wireless LAN Mini PCI Adapter. One more week of work and I'll have enough saved up. Thanks abaxter!

Why is the IBM mini pci cost much more than the Intel's? Is it that much better?
