I am looking for a business notebook. General configuration is 1.5 MHz CPU (or faster), 512MB RAM (minimum), 30 GB - 40 GB HD (speed is the issue here), CDRW, Ethernet NIC, no wireless & USB.
At this point, I am looking at the notebooks above and would like to get some feed back.

If you can afford the IBM, it's a night and day difference. I would also encourage you to look at the Fujitsu S6000 and 7000 series.

You'll pay more for the T41 for sure as Brian says, but if you want a durable, long lasting, pleasurable to use laptop then choose the IBM over the Dell.

Per my previous reply, I have the impression that what you are saying is true. However, it would be more comfortable to have some concrete examples to support my urge. I guess that my hesitancy is coming from not having had a notebook for at least 5 years. At that point, I had a Thinkpad.

Thanks. I have the vague perception that the Dell stuff is generally pretty cheesy. I know their support ranges from non-existant to unacceptable.
The price difference is not the concern, but I will take a look at the Futjitsu stuff.
