From what I can infer from the English translation in the notes, and from what I know, people who updated and lost their SLIC table for Automatic Windows OEM Activation, are not going to get a fix unless they send their machine back in. The fix will be a software fix, but they can't give away the utility to replace the SLIC marker in the bios. All T410/510/W510 users who updated to the 1.12 bios (including me) and lost their SLIC table have no choice. Luckily I was still within my return window and am just going to return my W510 and get a new one.
Good luck to everyone else. I've tried every leaked marker utility, marker.exe, pflash16.exe, etc, and using the older pflash16 and newest winpflash and winpflash64 with the /prot:$SLP:marker.bin (I did end up obtaining the correct TP-6N.BIN file marker for my W510) and nothing works. They appear to have updated or changed the way the marker is set on these newer systems, and the older utilities won't fix the problem. So until new utilities are leaked, you have two choices. 1, return your machine to Lenovo for repair or 2, use the COA and get a key to activate your install. If you choose option 2, you'll be doing that every time you reinstall or restore your machine, unless you also learn to backup your activation.
This is a major blunder by Lenovo. -
Yes, my SLIC is removed, but fortunately I have MSDN licenses.
The keyboard issue does look to be fixed. Other than my own bad typing, the letters are no longer reversed. -
Oh,No。。。。。。
Nobody want to send the laptop back to waste time and get a refurbished MB, because of Lenovo's stupid mistake.
I believe that the utility will be leaked soon or later.
-
Oh and as far as the utility being leaked, it may be leaked eventually... but there isn't as much of a reason for people to need the utility. The reason the previous utility was sought after is because people wanted to update their own markers from 2.0 to 2.1 in order to load Windows 7 illegally on their machines. All of these machines, T410, T510, W510, all already came with SLIC 2.1 in the bios. In fact, I don't even think you can order the machine without Windows 7, so I'm not sure why it's a big deal to not just include the SLIC table in the full bios anyway. Every T410, T510, and W510 out there should already have the SLIC 2.1 table.
But from now on, I'm going to be updating the BIOS using their CD method only. And I'm not going to be the first one updating the bios anymore. The only reason I updated the bios is because I was having some crashing issues when playing a game. That problem was fixed, but unfortunately with the side effect of losing my SLIC table. Not cool.
T410 - BIOS 1.15-1.06 kind of posted
