    I'm currently the owner of a ThinkPad T410, and I'm looking at getting either a T420 or a T520.

My problem with the T420 is the smaller screen -- yes, the resolution is higher, but the overall screen area is smaller ... on paper, I haven't seen one in person.

My problem with the T520 is I think it might be too heavy/bulky for me to take to class (I do have a large backpack with a laptop compartment though).

Anyway, if anybody has one of each (T410/420 and a T510/520), I'd love to see some comparison shots between the two! I'd be especially interested in seeing the T410 vs. T420, and the T410 vs. the T510/520!

Why upgrade, especially if you don't like the screen?

I upgrade only when the CPU upgrade from the previous generation is compelling enough. I personally would wait until Ivy Bridge or Haswell hits the market before considering a replacement.
