How is the video playback on the T410 integrated graphics?

The reason I ask is because I had the T400 and video playback on hulu was crazy choppy on the integrated graphics, even discreet had the same problem. I also do not intend to play any games more powerful than Warcraft 3 as I have a dedicated gaming desktop at home.

With Hulu (and other flash-based sites) I've always found that performance can vary more by what OS or browser your using than your hardware. For some reason, Hulu has always had choppiness issues for me in Chrome, but works just fine in Firefox, including on my intel HD-using T410. I don't really understand why that is but I think maybe the programming skills of Adobe's engineers is probably it.

720p shows and podcasts in iTunes have also given me no issues. Also handles Team Fortress 2 at 1440x900, mostly med. settings very well.

Based on Windows rating. A little bit worse than T400 discrete.
    5.1 vs 5.7

And all of that is done on the integrated graphics of the T410?

Hulu is flash video which means performance is entirely processor based. And playing Hulu 480P fullscreen is impressively intensive. The only way to alleviate the load is to use flash 10.1 (beta 1 for Intel graphics) which allow graphics card offload.

That's strange. Technically, the integrated GPU in the new i5 and i7 processors (and the i3 too, I believe) is more powerful than the 4500MHD in the Montevina laptops. Maybe that's just due to the variation within the Windows Experience Index... which makes it a poor performance benchmark.

That said, even the 4500MHD can handle HD content with ease, so the new integrated GPUs will definitely meet your needs - although, as noted, in many cases, video playback from websites could be processor-bottlenecked due to Flash. Even in that case, though, the new i5 and i7 processors would have plenty of power for video playback.

Read it again, he's comparing integrated T410 vs. *discrete* T400. In that light, the numbers make more sense.

"The reason I ask is because I had the T400 and video playback on hulu was crazy choppy on the integrated graphics, even discreet had the same problem."

Actually I think this points to the net connection and bandwidth far more than it does the system.

Flash playback of HD is tricky. As suggested try downloading 10.1 that is supposed to start using hardware acceleration. Even a relatively slow GPU should be able to handle it as opposed to using the CPU for rendering.
