So this is a video of my new T410, currently on its 2nd keyboard. The first one I had (didn't fit properly well, either), would jumble the letters if I typed too fast. This 2nd keyboard did not fix the problem, and the build tolerances are even worse.
You can bet I'm disappointed and will probably return it. One of the reasons I pay for the thinkpad premium is to get the build quality, as well as that famous thinkpad keyboard that I've enjoyed for the past 6 years on my old T42. Very very disappointing.

I only have my T410 for 5 days and the keyboard flex too. Did you had to send it to Lenovo to have the 1st keyboard replace? I wonder if they will charge restocking fee for return because of the keyboard.
-
no, they sent me a new one. its easy to install yourself. 2 screws and then you can pry it out.
-
This is not good news... I was going to buy a T410 to replace an aging T61 and I was sure the T410 would have no flex... Looks like a T400 with the T61 keyboard will have to do.
-
I'm really glad I saw this. It gives 'keyboard flex" a whole new meaning a makes me glad I have a t16P.
(Except it's heavy.)

The T410 is even worst than T400 feels more plastiecy and no rollcage! why did you buy it man? lots of other good brands out there....
-
Well mine doesn't have any flex! The last thing I would complain about would be the keyboard! You should order a new one.
I heard alot about the T410's but I never heard someone complaining about the keyboard. You really had bad luck here! -
My T410's keyboard doesn't flex at all.
You may try to reinstall the keyboard. -
does anyone else have the scrambled letters problem? where when you type quickly, the letters are out of order? -
I concur with others. My keyboard has no flex and feels quite solid.
If anything, it is a little 'firmer' than previous keyboards, requiring more finger effort which I don't like. The keys feel like they have to be depressed using more force which is a definite step back, although perhaps after a few weeks it will wear in. -
Can you guys take pictures of your keyboards (back) and the chassis of the T410 to get an idea of the bracing?
Or link me. I am sure someone else has done it. -
That looks worse than what I remember from my early generation W500's keyboard. I agree with jaredy, that has to have something to do with the chassis and the brace Lenovo developed to prevent this.

Whose doesn't have flex near the ESC key? I thought everyone did?
-
I am seeing some letter reversal, but I think it is because of the extra effort required to press the buttons when typing fast. Or is it? Time will tell. -
-
Somtimes you just get a lemon, it's really depend on your luck these day to get a good one.

I gotta say I'm not impressed with my new keyboard. There's a lot of flex. I have a T410 as well. Especially if I go press the right shift or enter key, that whole half of the keyboard fairly jumps up and down with even light pressing. Heavier pressing on the middle keys results in a lot of movement as well.
Keyboard flex is a new concept for me though, I've never really noticed or minded it before. But I wasn't expecting this out of a Thinkpad. I think even my '06 Dell Inspiron (non chiclet keyboard) has less flex at least on the edges.
Did you guys just call Lenovo or email Lenovo and complain? Sorry to bring up an old thread, but I figured it'd be better than starting another one on the same topic. -
I have a T400 and its said to have a horrible keyboard but it does not flex like that at all, I bought it mainly for the build quality, magnesium roll cage, carbon bottom frame and polycarbonate screen shell.
My particular computer have very compliant rubber feet, and they move several mm, this could be contributing to the seen flex, you really have to support the computer so it does not stand on the rubber feet if you want to demonstrate the flex.
My keyboard only flex about 20% in from all sides not at the edge keys, its rock solid there. -

I suggest you contact customer support.
If they fail to solve the issue (i.e. by sending you a non-flexing replacement keyboard) I would recommend you to search for or open a thread on http://forums.lenovo.com
