Just tried today. Works no problem. All you need is a displayport -> hdmi cable.

When you connect the displayport -> hdmi cable to your tv, a new speaker device will appear in your control panel > sound > speakers list. The name should be something like hdmi audio and also contains the brand name of your tv. Make sure you choose this new speaker as default.

If it does not work for you, try install the newest intel graphics driver which includes the driver for "Intel Display Audio".

    Cheers :)

    Thanks for sharing it.
I think it has something to do with the newly released intel IGP driver.

    Firstly, not BestBuy.

Try monoprice.com though you should buy other cables while you're there to make the shipping worth it.

Mine doesn't work. My devices list has "Intel Display Audio". But, after I to TV, only video, No audio, also No new speaker device. I use displayport to hdmi adapter and then hdmi cable to tv.
Where can I download the newest intel graphics driver? I tried the driver for Intel and got an error during installation.

That's good to know. Will definitely come in handy when/if I get an HD TV. :)

I have a T410 with the integrated graphics. I bought 2 Displayport to HDMI cables (including the one from monoprice) and no sound. After my third attempt to buy a Display port to HDMI cable from ebay (One which said it supported audio), success. So audio over display port to HDMI works for me on my T410 with integrated graphics.

All you have to do is select your default Playback device once you have the right cable. (It will not show if your cable is does not support audio)

I just just want to share this with everyone who bought a T410 and is regretting it.

    Hope it helps.

The T410 does support audio over DisplayPort to HDMI HDTV's. The problem is you have to use a DP to HDMI cable that also passes the audio signals as many DP to HDMI cables don't. If you use the right cable the posts in this blog to get sound from your TV will work. If you use the wrong cable than the notebook does not see the TV speakers and you can't get it to work like all of the blogs.

Here is an example of a cable that should work

    Amazon.com: 6FT Displayport-male To HDmi-male Adapter Cable: Electronics

At $8.97 it's a lot cheaper to test than the $99 one! ;)

Text says "Both Digital Video and Audio signals are passed through"

    Let us know :)

True... I paid $10 for my current adapter and it doesn't pass audio through :( but at least it's cheaper than the $19.99 Dell one.

I might give this Amazon one a shot in the near future. Haven't had to use hdmi out for a while now since I just resorted to streaming :)
