    Hey all,

I was hoping somebody could help me troubleshoot an issue I am having with my Centrino Ultimate-N 6300. I am finding that Lenovo's access connections 5 software is buggy and often my wireless modem will not appear on ui although I have a strong signal. The bars will occasionally go from completely green to empty. To mitigate this issue I have started connecting via the network button on the system try and connecting via windows. However, there have been occasions where I could not connect despite having full bars and 'excellent' range. Should I reformat my thinkpad or is this a hardware related problem?

The wireless modem, Netgear DG834GU v5 has been nothing less than solid in years gone by. It's definitely the thinkpad and its wireless card. Cheers

In Device Manager ->network adapterss->your_card->properties-> advanced, look for all that related to power options (Minimum Power consumption, device sleep on disconnect, Allow windows to turn off this device to save power, etc) and disable all of those.
And of course you can try a different driver for your card.
If it doesn't help, you can try changing the channel of broadcasting on you Netgear router (1 or 2 would be perfect) by connecting to it via your web browser. You'll have to google the Admin password and the IP.
