According to the tabook, I could use this ultrabay adapter to put in a second hard drive in place of the optical drive. My question is, if I leave it empty would it cause any problems? I'm thinking of just using one as a space saver. I have 2 external optical drives I'd prefer to use. I know most would probably say just don't use the internal optical drive then, but I'd like to just take it out since I wont be using it anyway.
It's hard to tell from the picture, but it looks like it has it's own circuit board and adapter that plugs into the notebook's internal adapter, so I'm not sure if this might cause a conflict, making the system think something is plugged in, when it's empty.
What do you think? Unless, is there some kind of weight saver? I can't find any.![]()
Edit: Ok I finally found their "travel cover". It's part number 45M2657. Search at Lenovo turns up nothing, so I guess I have to call IBM for it.![]()
Edit 2: You do have to call IBM. They had it in stock and it was only $12.50, but $13.50 for shipping.![]()

You can either go here, or call them at 1-877-719-0841 (for the US). I posted this because someone may find this useful one day, I had a real heck of a time finding it.![]()

The shipping is done by overnight express courier for most parts...

Really? Is that why it was so expensive? I ask because I didn't get any confirmation email or anything, just a "thank you for your order".
