Hey everyone, I ordered the T410 9-cell a bit ago and im starting to look at case options. I'm going back and forth between getting a whole new bag, or just a sleeve and keeping it in my backpack since ill be taking it to school alot anyway.

In terms of sleeves I'm kind of stick between the waterfield custom sleeve, and the tom bihn brain cell. about the same price, brain cell looks more shock resistant but isn't guaranteed to fit like a custom waterfield.

anyone have any experience with either of these? or recommend something else?

use use a tom bihn vertical brain cell in my backpack daily and it is most excellent
    fits my t410s wondefully
i'd highly recommend it - i could drop my backpack on concrete with no worry at all about the safety of the laptop

Do you have an extended battery?

I just ordered this case: ThinkPad 14W Sleeve Case

Let's hope it fits right and I'll let you know how it goes when it comes in.

yeah let me know how that case goes, much cheaper than a brain cell.

wilse, do you have the 9-cell battery? that's my main concern about it fitting.

no, the t410s doesn't have an extended battery
i tell you what, though - just give tom bihn company a phone call
they are really great to work with on the phone and will be very eager to help you determine which size brain cell is the proper fit for a t410 with an extended battery

Gotta give in my two cents (US, not euros, those are worthless now :p ):
I got a zeroshock III case. It fits a 9-cell battery great using a T410. It also fits perfectly in the compartment of my Skooba checkpoint brief laptop case.

Which size did you get? My T410 has a 9-cell as well so looking for a sleeve has proven to be quite difficult

I have a Caselogic that fits my T400 fine with 6-cell sticking out the back. Lately, however, I've been smitten with the look and design of the Booq Vyper M3 Sleeve. or Booq Taipan M Sleeve I'm pretty sure they would fit my T pretty nice so hopefully I find one for cheap on fleabay sometimes this summer.

I was also thinking of getting one of these on the cheap but am not too sure about the thickness and integrity of the sleeve.

I use the Built NY 14/15" model (not the 15w, which is needed for the 510). It is a nice fit, will work easily with the 9-cell. With the 6-cell, you could slip in the thin travel power adapter.

I throw the thinkpad in its sleeve in my regular briefcase or backpack.

    Whichever is:
    Inner W13.4 x D1.6 x H10.6 inch (W340×D40×H270mm)
    Outer W14.4 x D1.0 x H11.8 inch (W365×D25×H300mm)

I don't know if you can say it's specifically for the T410, but the laptop has a fairly common formfactor.

Now that I actually have a T410 with a 9 cell, I'm looking for suggestions. The Waterfield sleeves look great, but they are really expensive.

Sorry it took me so long to reply.

After using the Thinkpad 14W Sleeve Case for a few months I can say it fits rather well. The case is obviously made for the 9 Cell which would probably fit superbly, but it does the job for the 6 Cell as well.

-Slightly loose around the top and bottom (where the extended battery would fill it out)
-The width of the case fits perfectly keeping it very snug
-The padding is more than enough to keep it safe from everyday scratches

I use the case specifically for keeping it safe inside my backpack. It does that job great!
