    Hello,

    Thinkpad T410 and T410s are on my short list of candidates for my upcoming laptop purchase.

    I'm not looking for a multimedia powerhouse, but I do enjoy streaming Netflix and this comment from the Laptopmag.com review concerned me: "The sound emanating from the T410’s speakers was also poor. While only a little tinny, the maximum volume was so low that it was difficult to hear."

    Any input from you guys on this?

    I'm assuming the T410s speakers will be identical to the T410...is this correct?

    the speakers on the thinkpads are not really that outstanding. If you want good sound, bluetooth headphone, wired headphones or external speakers is something you should consider.

    Thinkpads, include T400/T410, have an "acceptable laptop speakers". They're suitable for listening news. Music? A headphone should be considered!

    Is it true that the volume is so low that it is difficult to hear? That's the only part that bothers me. I'm not expecting a hifi system, but can you hear it???

    you'll definitely be able to hear them.   most ThinkPad models have had speakers capable of exceeding comfortable listening levels for over a decade.

    most of mine are set at between 50% and 75% volume depending on the system.

    Of course you can. But listening music would be (much) more enjoyable with an external speaker. Headphone is recommended, due to portability.

    @erik: thanks for editing ;)

    It probably also depends on where you're listening. If you're trying to listen to something in the middle of a busy conference showroom floor or other loud public place (noisy restaurant, etc.) then you may well have trouble hearing the speakers.

    I'll just say the headphone out of my Thinkpad X61T and SL300 was better than the headphone out of my BenQ Joybook S42. Much cleaner output - though hard to notice the difference musically.

    They are a little flat, but not bad.

    Better than my R61 was. Louder for sure.

    Fine for online TV and background music.

    I heard the sound of the SL410 spkrs and it was suitable and lound enough for my needs. Does anyone know how the T410 compares? Are the T410 spkrs front firing like those of the SL410? Any comparison to the T42 sound?

    T410 is upward firing, sound quality is definitely better than T42, but not as loud at the maximum volume (but most people wouldn't not notice, unless you place the machine next to each other).

    How is the volume output through the headphone jack? My U150 was very loud, the Eee PC I had was very quiet through headphones. :\
