Yes, they're visible here.

Thanks for the pictures, I have some question:
How's the DISPLAY RESOLUTION?
Is there any buzzing noise?
what about the temp under the machine?
Thanks again!! -
how is the keyboard? -
Sorry for all my delays. It appears as though you may have a laptop from a diff country as my keyboard layout is diff (I for one would NEVER buy a laptop or any other keyboard in the US whose enter key spans 2 rows
).
I've been frantically working on re-installing a vanilla copy of Windows 7, before I go out of town in 4 days and I ran into issues with driver availabilty on the website.
Could you do me a favor and see if the battery threshold option is there in the power manager? I didn't see fine tune settings there.
For me so far: Keyboard seems solid. Didn't notice a buzzing noise. and the systems seems to run pretty cool. It seems almost as durable as the T41 I used to use years ago. But then again that might be subjective as the T41 was my work laptop and my T410 is my own (so maybe I treat it much more carefully
Compared to my D630 Dell @ work? That thing's a piece of JUNK compared to this!
However I haven't owned a T400, T60 or T61 personally, so I can't compare it to anything post IBM->Lenovo switchover.. -
how are the viewing angles on the screen?
does contrast change top to bottom if looking at it dead on? -
Fantastic...thanks for sharing! Can I just what the weight of your machine is?
-
Thanks hceuterpe, what about the battery life?
-
hceuterpe, i think after all this questioning (curse to be the first
), you'll rank as one of the leading experts on the T410...universes ahead of the Lenovo website and cust. serv. combined.
-
hows the screen on this new T410? As bad as on original T400?
Any chance you could use everest ultimate to see who manufactures the panels on your T410? -
Does your switchable GPU work?
-
Here is the info on my screen from the t410 (I got the wxga+ non touch)

Can somebody test whether or not the display port dumps audio through HDMI?
stryfe posed the question in another thread. -
whoa, this is quite exciting to see that the T410 is already been delivered to customers......
i think in due time, Lenovo should just drop the VGA port and include another displayport instead (one could use a displayport -> dvi + vga adapter).... -
every projector i've ever used has been vga -
The displayport didn't have audio when I tried it earlier, I had used one of the displayport->hdmi converters from monorpice.com.
As far as the screen I love it, I had the lg screen in my t400 and it was really nice and this one is the same if not better. -

http://www.lenovo.com/psref/pdf/tabook.pdf -
frankly speaking I am not sure about the tabook. At this moment I have not seen any good 14" LCD panel (14" panasonic, dell, thinkpad are crap, I cannot understand how somebody can stand such sort of LCD quality). It seems to me there is no good 14" panel on the market.
Does anybody know a vendor who makes good 14" LCD ? -
14" seems to be a bit of a forgotten size with manufacturers. The only decent panel i've personally seen in this size is lenovo's high nit panel. -
Don't mean to nitpick but the there is so little in focus on the pictures that its kinda hard to make out the "complete package" except for the unblurred spots.
How does the screen lid feel? Does the omission of the rollcage have any negative effect? Does the palmrest creak or depress under pressure?
As for the screen, I think we should be grateful to AUO for continuing to supply 14,1" 16:10 glass when the industry has forcibly shifted to 16:9.
My now 2 year old D630 has an AUO B141PW01 and I'm very happy with it. Plenty of brightness and reasonable contrast. Wouldn't go back to a glossy screen even if forced to do so. -
I'm very happy to see the headphone jack has been moved to the side. I am almost always using the headphone jack and not having it next to the touchpad like on my current z61t will be great!
-
Tell me that's not a US keyboard with that huge mis-shapen enter key
I hope that isn't a US keyboard layout -
according to tabook the us layout is the same as the t400s. -
it's a uk layout.
-
ok. FINALLY got windows 7 installed.
the battery life seems quite good. it's probably as good if not better. also it has higher capacity cells as the 9 cell batt is rated @ 95W which what a 10% bump?
the keyboard for the US is a standard keyboard. but its odd that the Fn is to the left of the left Ctrl key..oh well. i still use mainly a Unicomp (they bought IBMs buckling spring technology) so i have to get used to ANY laptop keyboard
The intel drivers installs an HD audio card in addition to the primary card so I would assume so. it's hard to tell about the HD codecs via either the DP or HDMI witha BD movie because you need a player with the added support specifically with the chip. So I can't rule out that function. I also dont have a Dp-HDMI adapter so while I can do this with a newer receiver and the asus HDAV card, I have to wait. I'll be out of town for about 19 days after this Thursday.....
for the Lcd I guess I'm not a conneiseur with LCD panels, but it seems fine for me...
still trying to figure out why the battery threshold controls are missing in PM. It wasn't there with the factory install either.
laptop weight? typical for a durable one this size. 5-6 lbs w/ 9-cell battery? haven't weighed to be sure but it doesn't bug me.
i'm pretty sure it still has the roll cage but the plastic is just ABS now. still seems just as durable...
this laptop definitely seems zippy. i think the turbo boost really helps here. it felt quite cool. the hottest part was the laptop and eve that wasn't hot. the cpu meter in batterycare never went over 39C.
Also I will warn you: Lenovo has items missing from their website for drivers so you make certain you copy the install files from their factory install on an SD card (yes it has one!) -
I also didn't get switchable graphics as i have absolutely no use for it.. so i can't speak for it..
the multi touch touchpad is definitely interesting. and the rest does NOT creak. in fact i'm pretty sure i saw the cgae when i swapped out the hdds. (metal with 1/4 holes?)
it's also textured which is new for me...
Sorry for the utterly crappy spelling! I typed both messages on my Touch Pro2 phone. -
thanks for the info hceuterpe! i've been lurking for a while desperately trying to find any type of review for the t410.
everything so far seems pretty good for this new notebook. im THIS close to buying one, ill probably pull the trigger this weekend =)
i was wondering though... is the thinklight working properly now? i think i remmeber the t400 "blinded" you when you used it. also you said the multitouch is interesting. is that good or bad?
these are not dealbreakers for me, just curious =) -
How is the noise level? I currently have a HP 6910p and I hate the noise level on this thing, even with a "laptop cooler" this thing can wake me up at night.
How does it compare to the t400?
, Thanks -
hceuterpe,
any chance you'd run any performance tests?
(eg - "performance test" by passmark.com) -
hceuterpe,
here is a fix in an older BIOS for your 2nd audio device...!
Anyways,
another new BIOS is available:
http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?lndocid=MIGR-74268
-
The light illuminates the keyboard yet I can barely see the keyboard with it off. It's directing the light quite well on the keyboard, and it's not bothering me at all really... I actually have to stick my head right above the keyboard to have it a problem.
I HAVE 1.09! The second audio is "Intel Display Audio" . For the integrated graphics, I would think you'd have to have that there, much like the ATI 4000/5000 series desktop cards... -
Hey TinyRK. Could you do me a favor and check to see if the battery threshold stuff is available without updating the BIOS first to 1.09 (assuming it's older)? I suspect (hoping really) the problem is that they broke it with the new BIOS
-
Since benchmarks were asked in an earlier reply I downloaded and ran PerformanceTest (PassMark) tonight, here are the results. Also as far as the thinklight, this one is much better then my old t400, no blinding at all.

thanks!!
now all we got left to get is someone with discrete graphix to run the same tests -
My T410 sits in Kentucky eating Fried Chicken, while I am waiting here in Wisconsin for it!
What the F, UPS?! -
Yeah, UPS lately has been taking a one way ride on the stupid train. They did weird stuff when they delivered mine, too.
-
Oh TinyRK:
Before you do ANYTHING, please do me a big favor by confirming with me as to whether or not the battery threshold levels are visibile and customizable in the Thinkpad Power Manager utilty. I'm guessing you know how to navigate to that section?
I'm hoping they just FUBAR'ed that in the newer BIOS update... -
My bios *was* 1.07 until I upgraded to 1.09 last night.
When I had 1.07 I had no threshold levels -
My laptop is not with me to check atm, so feel free if your's is -
Thanks for all the great info guys.
Can someone comment on a on the WXGA+ resolution on a 14 screen? Is to small/hard to read?
I'm currently using a z61t that has 1280*800 screens that seems just perfect for the size of screen. -
In windows 7 you can change the size of text and other items, so resolution screen size is of no concern, not like it was earlier.
Control Panel\Appearance and Personalization\Display
choose 100%, 125% or 150% -
It's just DPI right? I thought the previous versions of Windows (XP, Vista) have this too. -
-
Just got a T410 also with integrated graphics and I have the same problem setting thresholds. I've tried all the above tips such as updating the bios, updating power manager to 3.12 and changing the automatic setting with restarting and still, nothing shows up regarding thresholds.
Is this hardware or software related?
