I got a T410 and I'm considering getting a 2560x1600 30" monitor. I'm next to certain the monitor will end up having only DVI. With that said, how would one convert the DP on the T410 to a dual-link DVI??

so you are saying a simple DisplayPort to DVI adapter only goes to 24" basically?

wow I would have thought that DisplayPort technology would have overcome that hurdle

The passive displayport -> dvi adapters only do single-link DVI-D, which is why you're limited to 1080p resolutions. To get to dual-link, you need an active adapter like the one I linked. I don't think the issue is with DisplayPort itself, it's more about DVI.

The passive DP -> DVI can support WUXGA max. Also, i think some of the top line 30 inch monitor from NEC or Eizo don't have DP input.

    Yup. No DP input.
Also the 4-port KVM switch I'm looking at also has DVI only.

does the switch support dual link dvi? The dual link dvi kvm switch is pretty expensive, usually all above 400 USD.

Anyway for you the only way around the problem is to get the active dell DP -> dual link DVI converter.
