both items will work fine in your thinkpad.

8GB kits have dropped like 80 dollars in price since I got mine... and that wasn't too long ago, back in september I paid 200 for a crucial kit. Ah the pains of technology.

As long you're fine with WXGA screen resolution and have a 64bit OS you should be fine.

Yes, please confirm it once you get your ssd, want to make sure it works with t410 before i order the vertex 120gb ssd. I was going for lenovo y560 i7, i changed my mind at the last minute, i just need something small and easy to care around, battery needs to be last at least 2 hours. I think 8gb of ram should be fine running programs like matlab, orcad pspice etc...

And Thanks for the input guys appreciated :D

Yeah I don't see any compatibility issues with the T410 and the Vertex 2.

I just got misinformed and that my delivery was "re-scheduled" for Thursday (I'm calling this one bogus).

It's sad to know that they just have to follow the "First attempt" policy bull&$*@ so I can't just pick it up (depot is 3 blocks away from me).

Therefore wasted a day waiting for UPS.

I'll still post when I do get it up and running though.

Just got it today and was using it quite a while.

It is as I imagined it to be, fast booup, fast program launches, no application lags.

I immediately took out the included 250GB 5400rpm too so I wouldn't know how to compare.

Also made sure to turn off sleep and replaced it with hibernate instead.

I'm planning on doing the same upgrade as you did...quick question:

Did you clone the old disk drive? or just install a new OS from scratch?

I'm debating between those two options...I would rather just clone the drive...I'm just not sure of the best way to do it yet...w/o loosing any bits....

I don't think you have to disable sleep (it doesn't do anything bad). but you will probably want to disable page filing if anything (press the windows key, then type "virtual" and choose "how to change the size of virtual memory" and follow the instructions)

Also I would say it is a great idea to use the HDD that was in there as a back up drive in something like this Micro Center - Inland 2.5" SATA to USB 2.0 External Portable Hard Drive Enclosure 660589 (I've got 1.5 TB in back up storage using those [3x 500GB drives] they are reliable, and very useful, as well as being very portable)

I would recommend a fresh install, I know Lenovo/ IBM isn't known for their bloatware, but I always find a fresh install to be better (starting with a clean slate)

Finally, i received my laptop yeah :) replaced the hard drive with vertex 2 120gb, and upgraded to 8gigs of ram. installed win7 64bit pro, it was preloaded with 32bit, good thing microsoft allowed me to active my key :) Everything is working great. Love this t410 laptop. Caddy is coming, optical drive will be retired and i will use the original drive as storage hehe
