Everything about the T400 I loved and wanted except the poor quality of the LCD they used. People said it looks awful and hated its screen.

Are the screens going on T410, T410s a new panel or are they carrying over from T400?

Also, the Graphics card is a NVS3100M? What kind of performance does that bring to the table? Is it comparable to the GT330M going in the vaio Z?

T400's High Nit screen is your best bet and as for T410, no one really knows.

I just checked the website and it's updated now with the new models. The new T410 got the DDR3 pc3-8500 ram whereas competitors like Vaio Z has DDR3-1333.......Why are Lenovo using cheap and slower rams??

Do you think 99% of buyers will notice the performance increase? Even DDR2 really isn't that slower than DDR3.

Seeing as Lenovo will be using many T400 parts in the T410 as well, I wouldn't expect any drastic change. Perhaps 100% LED screens, but they probably won't be excellent screens.

Because there's no noticeable performance difference for a cost increase.

And I wouldn't really say the Vaio Z is a competitor to the T410. Not directly, in any case. Different price segment, different market segment, different style notebook, etc.

Could you somewhat compare the Vaio Z to the T410s as these are the two laptops I am looking to decide upon.

I'm in the same boat... to me the deciding factors are screen quality and battery life. Actual performance of the CPU + GPU are not a major concern.

If you care about quality engineering, durability, reliability, excellent keyboards, or compatibility, then go with a ThinkPad.

Screen quality... eh... not so much.

Screen quality is fine with me. I got the HD+ and I have no complains (except for a dead pixel that showed in the middle of the screen a week ago).

    Holy reviving dead threads batman!
I would rate my T410's screen (which is LED backlit) as ok. Not great, not bad. It's super bright and clear, but the viewing angles aren't that good.

A 10-month bump? ThinkRob, in the future, unless there's a radically new development that would benefit from existing information in an old "dead" thread, it is poor forum etiquette to "revive" the thread. If it's something big, usually it's better to make a new thread. And if it doesn't merit a new thread, it probably doesn't merit a "necropost" either.

I have two friends with T410 Thinkpads, one with a 1440x900 screen and another with a 1280x800 screen. I'd say neither is really all that bad, it's quite average and far more usable than some posters would suggest.

the T410 isn't flexview quality, but it is on par with the T400 and T61 LCD in terms of image quality.

I've got a T60(FlexView) and a T410s. The FlexView is in a different league so I won't even bother to compare.

The panel on the T410s is pretty good for working (Web browsing etc) but it really sucks for movies. If you want it for work, then you'll be very happy with it, its very bright and the quality isn't that bad (I have it at 9/15 and consider it bright, at 15/15 its like looking at a flashlight). But if you intend to watch movies on it, you can forget about it.

Mea culpa. I'm well aware of forum etiquette, I simply neglected to check the post date.

Rob. this really has not been discussed. One thing that hasn't been mentioned is that the price has dropped tremendously. What does that say as a predictor for a quality screen?
