    1. Are the volume up and down buttons known to be a pain to use? Do most new owners complain about them?

I ask because when compared to the T400, theyre extremely annoying to use. You MUST hard press or else the volume meter stutters. And when hard pressing you cant move up in small increments since youre forced to hold the buttons.

    Small complaint but annoying nontheless.

    2. The fan. Is it often that you find yourself hear it go? I know its a thin profile computer and everything is compact, but is it like this with all of them or just this one?

No graphic or cpu intensive work is being done and yet its spinning enough for it to be noticeable.

I ask this as I'd like to know whether these issues are common or if there's a problem with this unit. These two things are my big annoyances when compared to the T400 so I'd like to get everyones opinion.

    Thanks

    1. Those buttons must be pressed rather hard, but not really a pain to use.

    2. Cool and quiet -- at least the ones used in my group.

(The only "concern" me and my guys have with the T410s is battery life.)

1: Mine don't require "hard" press at all. Just a quick tap and it's fine.

2: The fan on mine runs most of the time but at very low RPMs so i don't even hear it. Right now it's not on but i'm guessing that's because i only recently turned it on and started browsing the web. Maybe 15mins now since i've been home. (Intel GMA here)

My Volume buttons are easy to use and don't require a hard press, just a light tap.
I rarely hear my fan and when I do it is not loud at all. I don't have descrete graphics though and the laptop seems to run nice and cool.
Overall I have been very happy with my T410s.

    Volume buttons work well.

My T410s Optimus runs very quiet. BIOS is set to discrete only right now.

My volume controls stutter and you have to press hard. Did you resolve this (e.g. contact Lenovo), or just live with it ?

most of the stuttering is to do with softwares, but if you feel that it becomes progressively worse, then i suggest you call up Lenovo and get a new keyboard sent out.
