Hi guys!
Does anybody know whether Lenovo has in mind to offer a larger battery for the T410s/t400s sometime in the future?
According to tabook, T410s (intel) with the 6-Cell (44Wh) and 4-Cell-Ultrabay (32Wh) should last up to 8h - means approx 5h in real world, if not less.
Now, i have to make a decision between this T410s or a regular T410 with nVidia and a 9-Cell (which would probably have identical battery life).
Pricing is equal for both.
I'd need my laptop to last at least 6h - optimum solution therefore would be a T410 with Intel and a 9-Cell battery. Of course, this one is not available for me.
Your suggestions gentleman![]()

Sounds like you might just want to get 2 batteries. Or that slice battery that gives you upwards of 20 hours of battery life? There's also the ultrabay battery--I'd probably go with that option myself.
-
. Regular+ultrabay will probably by my solution, not the best one
-
there's no reason to believe at this point that there will be any other battery option for the t410s
not to say it couldn't happen, but there's no indication right now that it ever will
before you buy that ultrabay battery make sure you research the lenovo "ultrabay battery issue"
the way it works currently, it isn't as good of a solution as you probably think it is -
why not?
i mean why not 57Wh in the 6-Cell, and 44Wh in the 4-Cell; just like for the T410 (without S). Would be a perfect solution for all-day-computing. -

this has been a long-running issue for the ultrabay battery in thinkpads - i'm at a loss to explain why lenovo hasn't fixed it. basically, with an ultrabay battery installed, the machine will always drain the ultrabay battery completely to zero before switching over to the primary battery. because the ultrabay battery is small, and the machine drains it completely to zero, the battery ends up with a very short lifespan and quickly begins to hold less and less of a charge. replacement needed within months is often the case.
lenovo needs to add a bios setting that allows you to choose the order of batteries and thresholds for switching between them. -
I can live with that, since i have the opportunity to buy those batteries at very low prices.
But, I'd like to have only 1 sufficient battery. I just can't imagine what makes it so difficult to offer 1 large battery
Anyway, first reviews will show what's up with t410s battery life. Maybe its even more power-efficient than T400s -
That's a shame re. the ultrabay battery. Although I just looked around a bit and it seems that the ultrabay battery is only supported on the T410s, so it'd be a non-issue if you went the T410 route, I guess.
Sorry for giving flawed advice, hah.
It sounds like the best thing you could do is just buy a second battery and swap them out when necessary. It's not ideal, but it'll get the job done. -
i'm actually really curious why the slice battery won't work on the t400s/t410s - it does use the same dock connector to supply power as the t410 afaik (but i might be wrong)
-
I think someone tried the T400 slice on the T400s and it didn't work. I'd assume the same for the T410/s until proven otherwise.
-
I wasn't aware there was a slice for the T400. -
I'd get an extra 6-cell battery that could you give over 10 hrs combined with the other one.

Its just a bit more elegant

btw from my personal experience i can get a bit more than 6 hours with the ultrabay battery out of my t400s. i don't think it would be much different with the t410s (until the ultrabay battery dies, obviously)
