    Hello,
a friend owns T410s 2901-CTO and he wants to upgrade to max disk/ram, i tried to search on lenovo accessories using model type 2901-CTO and no results found.

is it out dated model or what?

also can the mPCI small disks fit into T410s and works like how we do on the W520 ?

    Thanks

No, you cannot use mSATA SSD with the T410s because its PCIe slot was not designed to accept either WLAN card or mSATA SSD card.

The main bay accepts 1.8" SATA drive. Such drives, both HDD and SSD, are relatively difficult to find and can be more expensive than the popular 2.5" drives.

What I have done is to use a 1.8" SATA-mSATA adapter (about $15~18) to install a Crucial M4 mSATA SSD in the main bay of a T410s. Thia combo arrangement works wonderfully. The 410s screams!

Alternatively, you can install a 2.5" SATA SSD/HDD via a slim UltraBay caddy adapter.

the reason why your search found nothing was because of the CTO portion of the "type." When searching for specs/whatnot, you need the exact 3 digit code after the Type (which in your case is 2901). If the white sticker on the bottom does not show anything other than CTO, check the BIOS. If that also says CTO then the Lenovo search utiltiy will not be of any help. Alternatively, if you run Lenovo System Update, if you are lucky it will confirm what type of machine you actually have before it goes out and finds any updates.

Kaso - I have a Thinkpad T410s 2901-CTO and the original 128MB SSD is failing. Can you share with me how you did the upgrade to mSATA? What parts and where did you buy them? I checked on Amazon and there are several 1.8" adapters but I need one to fit nicely into the T410s drive bay (1.8" slide in). Thanks!

As Kaso mentioned you need a 1.8" SATA to mSATA adapter similar to the one on the left that I'm using on my X301, of course the design of the board may vary depending on the manufacturer.

This board pretty much allows you to use the most recent mSATA SSD drives in your machine but don't forget to make your own custom pull tab at the end so you can pull it out easily when required.
