Just wanted to know what other people would do if they were in my place...
I got a T410s from the Lenovo outlet to replace my x301 .... when I received it, I had one dead pixel on it.... We did call up Lenovo and they have offered for me to send it to the depot to review, but they mentioned that they have a minimum of 3 dead pixel in order to get a replacement of a screen ...
Has anyone ever sent in a laptop with one dead pixel and gotten it replaced...
I dont see myself noticing it much unless I am watching a video on full screen (it is a green one)
I did various software methods of getting rid of it, and also tried to massage it away, and no luck. ...

Unless its terrible, one pixel shouldnt be too much of concern (tho I havent seen dead pixels in real life in a while), however if its ugly and makes your life uneasy then I would suggest you to call local service and have either tech at your house or take your laptop to service and see whether you can negotiate into new LCD or not
-
technically you have a stuck subpixel, not a dead pixel. dead pixels/subpixels are black.
in any case, 3 or more defects is what it takes for a replacement: Lenovo Support - Display (LCD) replacement for defective pixels - ThinkPad -
If it's under their return policy window, I would send it back and order another one if it bugs you that much.

Replace it under warranty mate.

The problem is that I bought it from the refurb store and since it is not defective there would be a restocking fee on it....
Otherwise I love the laptop it is starting to grow on me... and I am starting to not miss my x301 as much (I know that is a shocker since I am such a pro x301 person) -
It sounds like that pixel is bothering you and it should if you don't like seeing them. If the CSR says they will charge a restocking fee ask to speak to a supervisor. If you paid via credit card call the credit card company and dispute the charge. -

Ok, thats weird, where did my post go
?
I mean, if machine is not in condition one expected and is intended to be used for certain tasks and if this defect his laptop has is not letting him to utilise his laptop the way it was intended, then why not try to negotiate with Lenovo regarding free repair? -
Well I got the RMA not because of the pixel. But the wifi card it keeps dropping connection to the wireless router. I really want to keep it since I got a great deal.
The wireless thing is just killing it for me. -
Which WIFI card does your T410s have?
-
I have the Intel Centrino Advanced N 6200 AGN ... they offered to send me a new wifi card, but I found a few forums with people who have the same problem with theirs ...

I don't know, but one stuck/dead pixel would bother the heck out of me. That would be all I'd be staring at on the screen lol
I'm SUPER picky when it comes to things like that. I know Lenovo's policy is 3 in order to replace the screen, but I'd still keep pressure on them. (Although it looks like the OP already returned his machine).
One time I bought a Toshiba notebook (back in probably 2000, or 2001ish), and it had 1-2 dead pixels. I bought it back to where I bought it (CompUSA at the time), and they gladly gave me another one. Guess what, the NEXT Toshiba had 2 dead pixels as well lol. I went through ANOTHER laptop with the same issue, until finally on the FOURTH one I managed to get one with NO dead pixels.
I guess the moral of this story is DO NOT settle for something that you want corrected -
I agree, the dead pixel is not bothering me anymore, but the wifi card is, I am messing around with settings, since I think that there may be some setting that is wrong, like i mentioned before this laptop is really growing on me... but I did get an RMA (which is authorized for 100% refund) since today was the last day to return it....
If the wifi problem goes away this is a winning laptop... but I dont know...
I am sure people on this forum are going to get frustrated with my indecisiveness... -
