    Hello,

I'm a new owner of a t410s, and I had a minor inconvenience that I was hoping I could find a solution for.

Commonly, I use the clicker for the trackpoint (the one directly above the touchpad) to click things even while I use to touchpad to move my mouse. This, however, seems to not work for my t410s like it did for my t61 as the system does not respond to my touchpad movements for a while after I click with the trackpoint clicker.

I believe they instilled this feature believing that people using trackpoint button are also using the trackpoint to navigate the mouse and, thus, the touchpad movements are assumed to be inadvertent palm gestures. It's become a minor nuisance for me to adjust and not use the trackpoint button to click even when it seems most convenient for me to do so. Is there any way I can fix this? Thank you.

You can go into the properties for the TouchPad and adjust the PalmCheck feature, which actually does what you describe: tries to prevent accidental touches from your palm.

Unfortunately I am not in front of my ThinkPad at the moment, so I can only direct you from memory :)

Open Start Menu, type in Mouse and press Enter. This will open Mouse Properties. The last tab on the right is properties for the TouchPad/TrackPoint. From there, select Advanced for the TouchPad, which will bring up a property tree.

The setting you are looking for is probably under Pointing --> Sensitivity --> PalmCheck.

Thanks, lenardg, but the palmcheck feature isn't what my problem is.

The problem is that my touchpad doesn't respond for about 3 seconds after I click with the buttons above the touchpad (the touchpad only works when I click with the buttons below the touchpad).

I believe they did this on purpose because they believed the buttons above the touchpad are used for clicking when one navigates with the trackpoint. Therefore, they disable the movements on the touchpad when clicking with the above buttons thinking they are palm gestures. Is there a fix to this?

Touchpad on my T410 isnt as responsive as it was on R400 that I had.
Might have something to do with multi touch gestures which I have enabled.
Not sure, Ive calibrated it and re-adjusted everything I could, but its not working the way it should, left side where the scroll zone is registers touch but scroll doesnt work, only two finger scroll works which is unresponsive and jumpy instead of smooth.
Probably driver issue, I will try to find generic drivers from Synaptics page and replace Lenovo branded ones to see if it solves problems.

Did you try to update/reinstall Ultranav drivers and see if it works?

I feel like my question is being misunderstood. When I click using these buttons:

My touchpad becomes unresponsive for the next 2 seconds. Is there a fix for this?

Did you already try what lenardg wrote? I think your best bet would be to look at the options there or possibly in the BIOS.

I've tried both lenardg's suggestion and going into the BIOS. I'm actually fairly surprised this isn't a common problem with others' experiences.

Perhaps there's a different ultranav driver someone can direct me to? I've also had problems with rigid 2-finger and 1-finger scrolling that I wouldn't mind fixing- two birds with one stone.

My t400s does that as well. Seems like a palmcheck feature but it's not. Does it when enabled or disabled. It just freezes the touchpad for a few seconds, and you cant put your finger on it. You have to lift your finger if you DO try to move it before the 3 seconds or it will never move. I don't really

I've never noticed it. Maybe you should learn to use the trackpad only :D It really isn't that hard to learn.

Using the trackpad mouse buttons and the touchpad seems weird to me.

MAA83, that's exactly what my problem is. My old t61 didn't have this problem. I'd prefer not to just "deal with it" if it can be solved with perhaps a driver or something of that sort.

I'm not sure about the OP, but I am using the 15.1.19.0 Synaptics driver and still have the problem.

Revert back to previous version or simply remove the drivers?
Havent tried that myself tho, Synaptics generic drivers acted weird once already, I guess Ill have to remove all drivers and then install Ultranav from scratch.
That Scrybe function is cool tho :D

I have the same issue that after I use the keyboard the touch pad becomes unresponsive for a second or two it is really annoying... -_-

Also if you want to quickly disable the Trackpad while using the Trackpoint you can click Fn + F8.
