So after a year of usage, a crack pop up on my T410s. There's a small linear crack on the left-bottom side of the TouchPad on the edge where I normally rest my palm (sorry my camera broke so I couldn't upload a picture to better describe it). I've never drop it or put any hard pressure on it...shot I took very good care of it too. So much for all the ad about how superior T410s quality is or I might be unlucky and got a crappy one. Hope you guys T410s don't crack on you.

Palmrest cracking is a known defect/build quality issue with the T400s and T410s, even with light and careful use. As far as I know, it's rectified on the T420s, though. Perhaps try contacting Lenovo for a replacement palmrest.

It's a common issue with the early T410s. My type (2904-GGU) was a later model and I did not experience that issue the 3 months I owned my T410s, of course I babied it.

There are revised FRUs available that help address this problem, but it's mostly a design flaw so there's not *that* much you can do about it.

There are mixed reports of success with the revised FRUs. Call up support and describe the problem -- they should issue a replacement from the fixed part stock (assuming that they have them in stock.)

I called Lenovo support but unfortunately the laptop is out of warranty so they can't issue a replacement. For sure this will be my last lenovo laptop. My fiance bought a T400 over a year ago and her laptop screen only lasted a year.

Thanks for all the replies though!

The plural of anecdote is not data. But good luck with whatever other vendor you pick.
