I am on the Canadian Lenovo website and see in the configuration page that the T410s doesn't have any different choices for cpu other than core i5-520 (2.4ghz). Also, the discrete graphics isn't even an option. However, on the T series page, it clearly says that the T410s has a switchable graphics card.

Are we still a few more weeks away from the T410s having all the different options available? or is this what they are going with?

Also, if I go with the 128gig ssd, is it possible to replace the optical drive with a 2.5 inch 7200rpm hdd so that I can have it boot and store applications on the ssd but store all other files on the hdd?

at this point, we are just speculating that the 2.53 ghz cpu and switchable dedicated graphics will eventually available
however, no solid ideas on how long we'll have to wait
and, technically, we don't know for sure - those options may never come

Do you have experience with this that you could share? I have never partitioned two drives...the reason I want this set up is the boot, shutdown, app open speed improvements with the ssd (lowest I guess is 128mb with Lenovo). I want to get a 500gig 7200rpm for that ultrabay.

How do you go about partitioning the ssd and hdd for bootup, apps and media/files storage respectively?

Also, I think I can wait a few more weeks for the 2.53ghz option as well as the switcheable discrete graphics card...

...hoping to still get that 25% off coupon :D

well, first off, if it's available, you'd be better off with a 80/160gb ssd, because they'd be intel ssd's, whereas the 128/64 ones are samsung or something...still miles better than harddisks, but sort of "meh" in terms of ssd.

well there's not much partitioning required. they WILL show up as two drives, and as far as i know you're stuck with that. you can't make it one big drive. it's just a matter of redirecting the relevant folders to the harddisk.

How is your experience with the T400s so far? The only thing I am concerned about these laptops are build quality and screen quality.

What can you say about these two aspects of the laptop?

The Canadian site has options for either 80 gig or 128 gig...the 128 is $100 more...Is 80 the intel and 128 samsung? Can anyone confirm this?

this is lenovo we are talking about
until the option not only shows up as available to order
AND also has confirmed deliveries of units with that option
    it is JUST speculation

intel only makes 40/80/160gb drives, and samsung only make drive sized in powers of two 32/64/128/256/etc

build quality i don't have anything to complain about...apart from the small crack right next to where the harddisk is on the palm rest - but since thinkpads have an endoskeleton system i'm not bothered at all.

screen is...well...not good...but i'm willing to live with that
