I need a new laptop for general use. It seems like the X201 has very similar specs and is not much lighter, and the X201s is discontinued. Good deal? Should I go for it? The 10% coupon only seems to work when you're at the Visa cardholder site, and only applies to the T410s, not T410.

Or should I go for the T410 instead? Also, is the Intel 160GB SSD any good? The only way to get a discrete graphics card is to get an SSD, so it's probably not worth it for me to separately buy my own SSD.

Check ebay, even cheaper T410s there, different specs tho.

If you can wait then perhaps wait and see what new Sandy Bridge ThinkPads bring to the table and then decide whether to get T410 or refreshed T/X series ;)

You can get the T400s for half that and Core CPU will make little difference unless you've got a specific need for CPU intensive applications.

Forget the T400s, you can currently get a T410si for less than $750 from multiple stores. If you need discrete graphics though, buying Lenovo might be the only option. Wait at least a week or so to see if new models have an impact on these prices.

Yeah I think I'll wait for the Sandy Bridge Thinkpads then. Apparently they will come in April.

Big difference in the GPUs and performance between the originally posters config and ANY of the T400s machines. The performance of the T400s GPU is terrible.

And the Intel 160g SSD is part of the reason it's over 1400 too.
