I'm looking at a T410s with the free discount they are doing at the moment, and the upgrade to WXGA+ screen. With the options I want it comes to just under $975.

    I have two questions.

    1) Are they still a good buy or should I wait for a revision?
    2) Can they take any 2.5in drive? i have a 240GB SSD I'd like to put in it.

    1) I dunno. Depends on how much additional benefit the additional power from the new models is worth to you. I think that's a good price for a new t410s cto.

    2) No, they only take 1.8" drives. Your SSD options just got downsized.

I would honestly wait. The advancements that are coming, to me, just can't justify buying current generation technology, not when Sandy Bridge and new models are just around the corner. Just nothing else to say on this matter.

Well the 1.8in kinda breaks the deal Q.Q

I was hoping to get least another 3-4years out of this drive since it cost so much. If the 410s least had USB3 's put it in an external case.

    Thanks MAA83.

You will have to limit yourself to an SSD, since all 1.8" conventional drives suck, at everything. You CAN put a second, full sized HDD in the ultrabay slot and have a 1.8"SSD/2.5"HDD setup, or you can just have an ultrabay drive and no primary drive.

Hmm good point. I don't use optical discs much.

Aside from doing office work/programing. Has anyone tried SC2 or Warcraft on it? I like to play when I'm not at home.
