I have a Thinkpad T42 running Windows XP Pro all service packs and Lenovo updates installed. I installed Turbotax and Quicken and when I rebooted my machine the wireless was broken.

I tried to perform a system restore but it was unsuccessful and the error message was not useful.

I brought up the Thinkpad wireless control panel (FnF5) and tried powering on the wireless radio from their with no success. When click on the power on button nothing happens.

I tried the repair function for the Intel Pro/Wireless 2200BG card. It claims to have repaired it is still not working.

Any ideas as to how to fix this?

Do you use restore points? Do you have a recent one?

well known that if you are thinking about cheating on your taxes, installing turbo tax will disable your wireless permanently.
try checking the "save power by turning off my wireless" option

    thats pretty WILD!

Since you have already covered the basics, I would go one step further and completely remote the wireless driver, do a reboot and wait for windows to re-detect and install them, you can do this from the device manager....if you need more details let me know.
