I've done some searches and haven't really gotten a good idea of what to expect for a standard 6-cell in a T42 14". I know what it's rated at, but what are your experiences?

Granted, there a bunch of variables (brightness, wireless, etc.). But, in general, how long does yours last? I'm trying to compare with a Fujitsu S6240 (which apparently yields about 3 hours under 'normal' conditions).

    Thanks much!

Should last about 3 hours under the same "normal" conditions.

Update: I've just run a stress test.

    Power scheme: Always on
    CPU Speed: 1.8GHz constant
CPU Task: SuperPI 16M and 32M Benchmarks, one after the other, with a small break in between. I was also working in Visual .NET to prevent the monitor from turning itself off.
Monitor: Max brightness (albeit with slight dimming, because I didn't disable that in the BIOS)
Wireless Radios: 802.11 on and connected, Bluetooth off

I got roughly 1:15 from 100% to 3%, at which point the laptop hibernated.

Next (after I charge the battery to full capacity) I'm going to try the minimum stress test, with minimum screen brightness, speedstepping and wireless turned off.

I used to get a little under four hours on my old T41 with the six cell and on medium settings.
