Would the T42 LCD assembly (the IPS Flexview) fit onto the base of a T60?

    T43?

I believe the LCD connector going from the MB to the LCD is different between the T60 and T42, so no, it won't work.

What about if I swapped JUST the LCDs? Would that work?

That's too bad. I would really like a flexview screen on a newer model. The specs of the T43 are just a tad slow for me.

Oh well, looks like I'm going to have to drop this project...after doing hours of research and looking for the models to buy. I wonder that the HN screen of the T400 compares to the Flexviews

LG screen on T400 should be pretty good, but viewing angle is the Achilles' knee. Samsung should be decent, but since you seem to be picky about the screen, you won't be satisfied with it.

Maybe you should sell the screen you have now, then buy the one you want. I think they depending on the resolution, they use different cables. So you may be on the hook for one of those too. Or you could just sell the screen and get a T60 with the IPS, which if you want a good screen, is the only way to fly.

The thing is T60s with flexview are virtually nowhere to be found.

Sure there are. There's one here and here. The first one says no international buyers, but you're in Canada and if you can meet the other requirements, they might go for it. Post over in the Marketplace forum on ThinkPads.com that you're looking for one. Someone may have one they're looking to sell.

    T60 with 15" screen and SXGA+ resolution is Flexview-equipped. That's a fact.

All T60s with SXGA+ and UXGA resolution are IPS screens.
