For T42, is there any difference in terms of weight and size between the 15in and 14.1 in models? It seems like all the reviews we have for T42 are on 15in one ...
Same question for T43 ...
I'm looking for something really light but durable since I'm taking bus to school... and I walk 1 2 miles to the bus station everyday ... also wandering around the campus ... so it's more likely for me to walk 3 4 miles a day ... and with a 5 6 pound laptop in my backpack wouldn't be a good idea ...

And also, I dont play game at all. I need sth light and durable for my college ( words, excel, net surfing, light programming ), will the X40 fit my need? The thing I concern about is the screen ... it's only 12in ... I have used a 700m ... it's ok for me w/ word, excel and net surfing. But for prolonged use ( like 2 3hrs straight when programming, or even typing papers .. ), I have no idea how my eyes and brain will react !!!... any advice ???
Thanks guys ...

the t43 and t43 starting weight for the 14" is around 4.5 lbs
my t43p 2668g7u travel weight is 5.1 lbs;14"
as for 15" there staring weight is around 5.3 lbs
the t series of ibm are really rugged so they can take a good level of abuse....nevertheless id still advise u to be careful with yre laptop.....ive seen too many people drop their notebooks as they were holding in their hands while walkin around campus.
and its not a pretty picture.......not to mention the embarassment:

The 15" screen is about a pound heavier than the 14". They are of the same build quality. If you want to look at a 12" screen, I would look at the x32. It is a little heavier than the x41, but has better battery life than the x41 and can be had with a faster hard drive. The matte screens are easier to look at for prolonged use than the glossy ones like the 700m in my opnion.

thanks guys ...
I read the review of X31 ... it seems to be a better choice than the X40 ... but I could not find it from IBM/Lenovo website ...
I think I might like the T43 better than T42 ... since I like sth small ... -
I think the 14.1 in screen would fit your needs, but you should make sure to get the SXGA resolution. I've seen many T43s at school and it looks best when paired with either a 15in UXGA or a 14in SXGA. The t43 is closer to the 5-6 lb range, so I don't know if that's too heavy for you. However, if you go with the X32 or X41, you have to remember that there is no built in optical drive. So that could become a slight hassle for you. If you like the size of the X32, but want an optical drive, check out the Sony S-series, they're 13.3 widescreen with built in optical drives and start at around 3lbs. Good luck
