    Screen:
    1. how small is the text on a 14.1 SXGA+ screen? as small as UXGA on a 15" or a bit bigger?
    2. how much exactly does the 15" screen increase the weight, and how does it affect battery life?

    Drives
    3. Why would I pick the plain DVD over the DVD-CDRW? Is it lighter or consume less power? I won't use the laptop for CD burning (desktop for that), but why not if it's the same price?
    4. I think I would prefer the 7200 rpm 60 GB drive over the 80 GB 5400 one for its speed, but again how does it affect battery life and how does it dissipate heat (burnt thigh syndrome)?

    Thanks!

    1) I do have an SXGA 14.1" ThinkPad T40 but have not seen the UXGA. My guess is the SXGA text would be slightly bigger than a UXGA.

    2) That's the negative with the 15", I currently have a T40 14.1" and a 15" T42 and the T42 is definitely heavier and noticeably so when picking up. It adds a good 1-1.5lb. Battery life suffers too, you'll lose 30 mins, I can get about 2.5 - 3 hours with the 15" T42 and 4 hours with my T40.

    3) You'll find a CD Burner handy at some point I bet, I'd go with the combo.

    4) Here's a great article to answer this quersion: http://www.tomshardware.com/mobile/20031031/index.html
