My T420 has an inconsistent fan. It would run for like 15 seconds and then stop for maybe 10 seconds before starting to run again, which gets pretty annoying. What is causing this, and how can I fix this? I'd like to have it as silent as possible.

My T420s has the same problem. It gets annoying in quite places. I use the Fan control software and it controls better.

Thanks for responding. What fan control software are you using?

Nevermind; I found an easier solution. I updated my BIOS on the lenovo drivers page, and it worked out fine. Fan's back to normal.
