    I'm planning to dock the T420 with an 1920 x 1024 monitor. Would the graphic card support this resolution?

    Yes the Intel 3000 is more than adequate to handle 1080p output.

    It does not matter that whether it is a TN or an IPS panel. If you want the best picture quality, I suggest you connect it via the displayport. You can do it directly, via a hdmi converter or via dvi converter.

    Just use the DVI on the dock & port replicator.
