I thought this was interesting.
Lenovo ThinkPad T420 Is First Laptop To Get UL Environment’s Gold Certification
-
Interesting stuffs, but only a limited customer demographic would really worry about such certification.
-
Interesting to see it has different port layout on left side.
Not that Im going to buy this laptop anytime soon, I do hope that Lenovo will make it bit thinner and lighter than current T410 is. -
Businesses might care about power consumption and end of life management.
-
Nice little sneak preview in disguise there. The internal chassis looks good. I dont like those huge screen bezels though, especially the now even bigger botton bezel because of the 16:9 screens while the notebook size is probably staying the same.
-
I didn't even notice the video at the bottom at first. Or it was updated after I first saw it.
Now this is even more interesting -
-
Interesting. This is one of the first times (besides the brief pictures of the X220, and another Thinkpad barely visible at CES) that I've actually SEEN a T420.
-
product not yet announced. certificate come out 1st. interesting
-
That would be only logical to get all possible certificates first and then release machine to both make it suitable for all markets and respective environmental demands as well as to be able to show off that their laptop is better than the rest in green factor
-
i just hoped the T420 has a good screen.
i love my T400 but i'm gonna dump Thinkpads if they dont get better screens. -
The only "change" screen-wise floating around lately has been: going from 16:10 (down) to 16:9 aspect ratio.
-
Love the safety glasses in the video. Like the laptop is going to jump out and poke them in the eye!
-
I would really love if Lenovo focused some attention on the screen panels or at least give us an option for even just one ultimate panel (which in truth I wouldn't mind spending quite a bit on) over the standard offerings. In my opinion that would make it the definitive business notebook package... but one could only dream! -
You're right hearst, but if more and more people whined about poor screens that are prevalent in so many models, the OEMs might actually insight change. The OEMs are after all the biggest customers of the screen manufacturers. Unfortunately, consumers are looking for the best value, and when you're looking at $399 laptops most don't care about screen quality.
So as long as the vast majority of consumers are thrifty, I'm afraid nothing will change. -
This is a good thing for the consumer, since computer companies are forced to go with seasonal discounts (increasingly predictable) to offload their inventory and boost up their revenue no. They are also making less money on each sales. -
be careful, though, as certain owners of $1000+ ThinkPads don't want to hear that "their" screens are "poor" or "questionable" -
pathetic yes, but the upside is that at 16:9, it should be almost trivial to find a quality 1600x900 14" screen to replace the lenovo garbage edition
